LOPEC (Large-area, Organic & Printed Electronics Convention) is the world’s leading trade fair and conference for flexible, organic and printed electronics. Join us in Munich to explore the forefront of inkjet technology with Panasonic’s R&D Inkjet Printer. Perfect for R&D applications, it supports high-precision material development, device prototyping, and seamless scalability for large-scale applications.

High viscosity/High precition inkjet for Perovskite solar cell

Panasonic’s ‘R&D Inkjet Printer’ provide a prototyping environment from material development for the inkjet process to device prototyping using the inkjet process.

To achieve environmentally friendly manufacturing, we want to increase the efficiency of material usage and reduce the energy required for manufacturing through inkjet technology. If a wide variety of materials can be deposited uniformly over a large area using inkjet technology, multilayer devices such as OLEDs and perovskite solar cells can be produced. At Panasonic, we have already developed G8.5 (2200 mm x 2500 mm) inkjet equipment for patterning emissive layers. Inkjet film deposition has a material utilization efficiency of about 90%. This is significantly higher than evaporation, which has a material utilization efficiency of around 10%. In addition, inkjet deposition can be applied to specific pattern on demand, eliminating ink waste. The absence of a vacuum process reduces the amount of energy used in the manufacturing process. And inkjet coating is more advantageous than other coating methods for uneven substrates compared to die coating. This is because it can be applied at a distance from the substrate, which is also necessary to overcoat the underlying 3D patterned functional film in multilayer devices. We have developed inkjet heads and equipment for depositing the perovskite solar cells. And we are extending this technology to coat G8.5 thin film encapsulants.

Highlights:

  • Equipped with anti-corrosive Panasonic inkjet head – available for various ink with material composition of high anti-corrosive
  • Stable printing with ink circulating head – stable jetting suppressing nozzle clogging by just-on-nozzle circulation
  • High viscose inkjet head (Optional) – available for large particles (Max 1um), high viscosity (Upto 100mPa・s)

The tests for this equipment will be available from Q2 2025 in Europe!
